Testing of softening time of suppositories

The ERWEKA PM 30 measures the softening time of suppositories. Suppositories must disintegrate, dissolve or melt at body temperature in order to release their active ingredients to the body. ERWEKA offers a version for EP method A and method B.

The PM 30 penetration tester (compliant to EP, apparatus A or apparatus B) has been designed to carry out reproducible measurements regarding the softening time of suppositories at predetermined temperatures. The construction of the tester makes visual observation of the melting characteristics extremely simple. In total, the unit comprises of three test stations.

• Glass test tubes, 2 g, with adaptor, for PM 30 (for apparatus B)
• Glass test tubes, 3 g, with adaptor, for PM 30 (for apparatus B)
• Immersion thermostat PT 100 (incl. certificate)
• Water stabiliser with colour indicator, one bottle for two fillings

More Information

• Apparatus A can be converted to apparatus B by purchasing the 3 test tubes.
• Apparatus B can be converted to apparatus A by purchasing the respective spare parts package A (3x).
