The ERWEKA PM 30 measures the softening time of suppositories. Suppositories must disintegrate, dissolve or melt at body temperature in order for their active ingredients to be released into the body. ERWEKA offers a version for EP method A and method B.
The PM 30 penetration tester ("Apparatus A" according to EP) and the PM 3 ("Apparatus B" according to EP) have been developed to carry out reproducible measurements of the softening time of suppositories at specified temperatures. The design of the test device makes visual observation of the melting characteristics extremely easy. The device consists of three test stations.
